Kevin McNeil - The story so far

Kevin McNeil was one of the original members of
the well known New Zealand 60’s band 'The Mods' formed in late
1963 as the 'Surf Boys', then re-named 'The Mods' in 1964. From 1964-66
he toured New Zealand with the band and recorded two singles that made
the NZ Charts. In late 1966 Kevin joined Auckland band 'The Rayders' spending 12 months touring New Zealand and recording two original songs by group guitarist and singer Danny Campbell. In 1989 he re-formed the Mods with some of the original members and from 1990 until 1999, appeared in concerts around the country, many as support for major overseas artists such as 'Canned Heat', 'The Little River Band' (1995) and Roy Phillips from the 'Peddlers'. Kiwi artists such as Ray Columbus, Susanne Lynch, Ray Woolf and Shane are among the acts that have worked with the Mods over the years since 1964. In the 80’s and 90’s Kevin worked as a sports announcer for Radio Waikato, Radio Pacific and ZH FM in Hamilton. Over the last 10 years he has been working as a Solo Artist, a Presenter (involved in a number of Corporate, Private and Sporting Events) and leader of the latest line-up of 'The Mods'. His latest project is the production of a solo album entitled 'My Story So Far' and featuring a self penned track 'Back in 64'. The rest of the album is made up of covers from the 60s and the four songs recorded with The Mods and The Rayders.
